[client story] Executive Transformation: Forging the Habits that Change Team Culture

Company: Forge Buildings
Industry: Steel Building Construction
Headquarters: Boise, ID
Leader: Hamish Bell, President & Co-Founder

When Forge Buildings first reached out to Pregame, they weren’t in crisis. In fact, the company was thriving — but growth had introduced complexity. Leadership knew that as the company scaled, communication, organization, and collaboration needed to level up.

“Things were good,” says President and Co-Founder Hamish Bell, “but we always want to be better. Stronger communication. Better leadership. We wanted to make sure our executives were evolving with the company.”

The Approach: Pregame Leadership Training

Forge had done management training before, but was looking for a deeper dive. Something customized. Something real. CFO Sonja Chapman had heard about Pregame, and after some due diligence, they signed on for a five-month coaching plan — then signed on again for a second year.

“Our first concern was: will the team buy in?” says Bell. “But after the first few sessions, there was solid buy-in. People were talking about it outside the room. That’s when I knew it was working.”

The Wins: Real Tools, Real Talk

Throughout their Pregame sessions, the Forge team went all in. They took the insights from coaching and made them operational. Key concepts drawn from Coach Lori Eberly’s “Fuckery” workshop — triangulation, overload, undermining — became a critical conversation in weekly leadership meetings.

In their first year with Pregame, Forge refreshed their org chart. Defined values. Clarified mission. And, crucially, started celebrating small wins.

“This isn’t just theory. We took action,” Bell shares. “Now our leadership meetings include what we learned. It’s helping us be better leaders — and better for our team.”

Why It Matters: Better Leadership = Better Company

In the steel building world, people might not expect a focus on executive self-awareness. But for Forge, it’s essential. “We’ve grown from a small company to a large one. That takes stronger communication and tighter organization,” Bell says.

The result? Stronger relationships among leadership. Shared responsibility. Clearer vision. And leaders like Sonja and Kraig, VP of Operations, stepping up and shining.

“We’re more honest with each other now. That’s a big shift.”

The ROI: Tools + Trust

Leadership training isn’t about quick wins — it’s about long-term growth. For Forge, it’s about investing in people.

“You can’t lead a company if you’re not willing to learn,” says Bell. “Pregame gave us all the same tools, so we’re working from the same playbook. That’s huge.”

Advice for Other Executives

“Do it. If you’re on the fence, just do it. The payoff is worth it — not just for the individual, but for the entire team.”
