Meet the Pregame Mascot: Grandmaster Flash the Bunny

Every team needs a mascot, and Pregame is no exception.

Meet the official Pregame mascot, Grandmaster Flash the Bunny. He’s been with us since day one, and here, we go behind the scenes to find out more about the elusive Mini Rex.

How did you land the important role of Pregame mascot?
It’s true that I’m the founder’s pet, but I like to think it was my natural talent and “it factor.” I’m speedy and can jump over almost anything, and Pregame is all about speeding your goals and getting past your obstacles, so it’s a natural fit.

On a personal note, I was bred to be a show bunny, but at my first show, I was deemed “not good enough.” Just when I was going to be sent to the raptor farm to be prey, my MC [ed note: Pregame founder Ciara Pressler] saved me and I got a second chance. Now, after a lot of time and healing, I know that I am enough, and I want everyone else to know that they are enough too.

You’re hard to catch. When can we see you at Pregame?
Yeah, I’m pretty fast. I only come to HQ occasionally, as I hate riding in my carrier. Don’t get me wrong, it’s super stylish, but car travel is uhh… not my thing.

My favorite day of the year is Real Hip Hop: Pregame Kids’ Day, part of the Pearl District Bunny Hop, where I’m the featured guest and all the kids from around Portland come to see me, feed me, and pet me. I’m happy for days after that!

What’s the story behind your name, Grandmaster Flash?
Well, I hip and hop and just can’t stop, much like hip hop’s first DJ. Like him, I came up from the hood (Hood River, OR), and I love dope beats.

Who are your heroes?
Oh man, so many. Biggie, Tupac, Snoop, Missy, Kanye… the originals like Afrika Bambaataa and Kool Herc. Also, kale farmers. Shout out!

What’s your love language?
Definitely touch. I’m super soft, so it’s a win-win.

Are you an entrepreneur as well?
I like to think so. I’m a creator and an artist, always working on new dance moves or my art, which is to reimagine regular household items using my teeth. It’s visionary; it’s controversial.

How can we keep up with your latest projects?
Follow me on Insta at @grandmasterflashthebunny, or stop by anytime my MC is out of town. PARTY!!!

How do you create success?
Find your carrot. Listen like your ears are 3x bigger. Make people smile. And it doesn’t hurt to be adorable.
